I just finished a free giveaway on Kindle for The Night Library. Managed to get 588 downloads this weekend, a far cry from 8k+ of June, and I can’t account for it, but it did seem to inspire this sweet and short 5 star review:
“I love short horror stories, have ever since I read Stephen King’s “Nightshift” as a kid. These are great. A complete story from beginning to end before I drift off to sleep, dreaming of darkness, death and decay. Just how I like it.”
I think these stories are great. I am a picky reader of weird tales and the supernatural from MR James to Lovecraft to Caitline Kiernan. And I never go past a couple of paragraphs if the writing isn’t good and the feeling of dread doesn’t begin pretty quickly. I started The Reservoir and thought. Wow. OK. Now here is another writer of spooky tales who can write. Thanks. Leo
Thanks, Leo. It means so much to me that you are enjoying The Night Library. If you still feel the same when you finish, a few good words on Amazon and/or goodreads would be appreciated. Thanks again. I have yet to read Kiernan, but Lovecraft, of course, had a big impact on my imagination.
